Movie Morsel

Yes, more David Lynch.  There can never be too much Lynch.  This clip is from Eraserhead (1977), Mr. Lynch’s first feature length film.

By now it is apparent that we adore David Lynch.  Below is our favorite scene from Mr. Lynch’s amazing 3rd masterpiece INLAND EMPIRE.  Enjoy.

For our second installment of Movie Morsel we turn to our favorite movie of the 3rd millenium, Mulholland Drive (2001).  Almost a decade in and David Lynch’s 2nd masterpiece (his first being Blue Velvet and his 3rd being Inland Empire) remains the most exciting filmic achievement of the new millennia. There is so much to say about this film, and so much to read, but we will dispense with all that and get to our favorite scene from the movie: Rebekah del Rio singing “Llorando”, a spanish a cappella rendition of the Roy Orbison classic “Crying.”

Welcome to our new segment, ‘Movie Morsel,’  in which we share with you our favorite scenes from our favorite movies. We inaugurate the series with a gem from The Royal Tenenbaums, directed by Wes Anderson.  Released in 2001, this dark comedy is about The Tenenbaums, a dysfuntional New York family, and what happens when their estranged father, Royal, attempts to become part of the family again after a 22 year absence. Check out Wikipedia’s entry for more information about this film.

The clip below features the wonderful Gene Hackman as Royal.  After being allowed to return to the family house, he is kicked out once more after it is revealed he lied about having stomach cancer. His servant and friend, Pagoda (a former assassin), can’t contain his disappointment. Enjoy:
